Medical Assistant - Open to New Grads - Skid Row Vacinity

Pay: $20/hour or $41,600 per year
Shift: 7 am - 3:30pm, 7:30 am - 4 pm, or 8 am - 4:30 pm. Should be flexible to work any shift
Location: Main facility just outside Skid Row, but working in clinics with patients from the Skid Row are.
Languages: Must be bilingual, fluent in Spanish and English

As an MA, you'll be welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and creates a positive patient experience by managing expectations while demonstrating compassion and respect. You'll also assist in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures and technical/clerical support services in the clinical setting.

Expect to document patient statuses, insights and treatments in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and assist with more administrative responsibilities. And lastly, you'll be expected to demonstrate compassion and respect, and be proactive in managing patient’s expectations.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certificate along with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS/CPR certificate
  • Strong interpersonal skills, clerical, and computer skills
  • Bilingual: English & Spanish


Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a back office Medical Assistant
  • Experience with EHR
  • Open to New Grad Medical Assistant Knowledge of Medical Terminology Venipuncture experience


Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake (i.e. vitals, chief complaints)
  • Perform all requested orders (i.e. vaccines, medication administration, labs, etc.) in order to prepare for provider visit
  • Document intake into EHR (for all specialties)
  • Maintain patient care areas clean and stocked. Includes assisting with supply/med/vaccine inventory/logs.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and "no-shows"
  • Function as a patient advocate by ensuring patient concerns are resolved and/or addressed in a timely manner
  • Perform patient intake over the phone
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
